I have a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and have been practicing individual couple and family therapy since 2015. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy and in Compassionate Communication as well as a background in Ecotherapy. I work especially well with couples with young children, with older couples, with queer couples, and with couples dealing with infidelity. I also work well with families wanting to improve communication and connection. I offer an online Compassionate Communication group, and also an online Climate Grief group based on The Work That Reconnects. You can reach me to schedule a session or join a group by emailing crlundgren@mncoupletherapycenter.com or by calling 218-590-0635.
Clients tell me that I have a peaceful and loving presence and that this helps them develop trust from the start. I deeply care about my clients and am passionate about helping them find and create connection and healing with themselves, with their loved ones and with nature.
When working with couples and families, I often start by helping them understand their attachment history, and to name the hurts that have yet to be healed. We map out the recurring patterns of communication that are painful, and we find new and more connecting ways to share and respond to concerns. Then we go deeper into vulnerability and begin to restore trust and emotional intimacy. For couples this often leads to a more joyful and connected physical intimacy in their relationship.
When working with individuals, we often work through what I described above, using Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, and I also bring in practical tools such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for a short duration for specific issues such as anxiety, social anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self harm, insomnia, and ADHD. Trauma is addressed with EFIT and other approaches individually but is also beautifully addressed in couple and family therapy.
When I am not in session I enjoy spending time with my husband, my five children, and by myself deep in the woods on the north shore of Lake Superior.
