Internships

If you are passionate about couples work, attachment theory, and learning Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), you may be interested in Minnesota Couple Therapy Center’s practicum/internship opportunities. These are for those in a master’s or doctoral graduate school program.

As our intern, you will have the opportunity to shadow one or more EFT therapists providing services to couples, allowing you to see how the EFT process progresses throughout treatment. After your first weekend of intensive EFT training, you will start seeing their own couples, with regular, supportive supervision. Four of us supervise interns, and you will be assigned one as your primary supervisor. We expect our interns to commit to attending a 4-day EFT Externship put on each September and Core Skills, an advanced EFT workshop consisting of 48 hours of training over 4 weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) starting a month or two after the Externship each fall. We pay for both of these trainings for you (a $2,000+ value). Once your practice has built up, we expect you to to see at least 10 clients per week, in addition to shadowing other EFT therapists for a few hours per week.

We ask for a year long commitment starting in September of each year. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis beginning November 1st. Interviews are held in November and December. We accept 2 - 3 interns per year. You will be paid 25% of client revenue generated–you will receive a 1099 at the end of the year.
