Joshua works in Duluth MN, with couples, families, and individuals of all kinds (heterosexual, LGBTQ+, Queer, Poly, trans, non-binary, etc.) who are experiencing distress in their lives and in their relationships. They will work with you through painful difficulties in the present, healing past traumas and attachment breaks, bringing new ideas, skills, and support to parenting, and moving through life's transitions, choices, and painful circumstances.

Joshua specializes in working with couples and families from attachment-based, trauma-informed, and feminist perspectives and has advanced training in Emotion Focused Couples Therapy. They use sensitivity and directness to bring to light breaks in attachment and then work with you to repair those breaks and restore emotional connection. They also teach Non-Violent Communication to keep those connections strong.

Joshua offers Intensive therapy for couples and families, which includes 3 hours of therapy per day, with 1, 2, or 3-day options. Intensive therapy can be especially helpful for couples who are on the brink of separation, recovering from infidelity, in crisis and/or experiencing significant distress within the relationship, have trouble attending weekly therapy sessions, or couples wishing to speed up or jump-start the process. Intensive therapy is followed up with weekly appointments with Joshua or they'll provide a personal referral to someone in your area and with a signed release of information, can coordinate care to ensure a seamless and efficient transition.

Joshua enjoys spending time with their family, trail running, swimming in the icy waters of Lake Superior every month, and making and listening to music.

Joshua completed a Master of Science in Education degree with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. They also hold a BA degree in music from Winona State University. They practice under the supervision of Carolyn Dehnbostel MA, LMFT.

Life is often startling, painful, difficult, and confusing. Many people have felt the same mix of thoughts and emotions that you are experiencing right now, even as you read this. I hope that if I have the privilege to meet with you that our work together could be a source of support, healing, and understanding in this difficult moment.
