Relationships can hold some of the greatest joy in our lives—and some of our deepest hurt. You can love someone and still feel lonely with them. You can want things to work and have no idea how to stop having the same argument. You can be committed to a relationship and still wonder what comes next.
I work with couples who want to better understand each other, change painful patterns, and feel more connected and secure. I also enjoy working with individuals navigating the transitions that can reshape how we see ourselves—becoming a parent, entering midlife, facing an empty nest, changing careers, or simply wondering, “What do I want the next part of my life to look like?” I’m especially drawn to the complicated places, when things are changing and there may not be an obvious “right” answer.
My style is warm, curious, direct, and collaborative. I won’t just sit back and listen. We’ll slow things down, get underneath what’s happening on the surface, and make sense of what keeps you feeling stuck. I want therapy to be a place where you can say the things that are hard to say anywhere else—and know that we can handle what comes up.
I came to therapy as a second career after nearly two decades working with nonprofit and community organizations. I’m also a parent and have spent many years in a long-term partnership. I know firsthand that relationships and identities unfold alongside real life—raising children, building careers, caring for family, experiencing loss, changing priorities, and becoming different people than we once were.
I don’t believe there is one right way to have a relationship, build a family, or live a meaningful life. I’m not here to tell you what your relationship or life should look like. I’m here to help you understand what’s happening, reconnect with what matters to you, and create more choice about what comes next.
As I begin this next chapter in my own professional life, I’m completing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and working as a therapy intern. I also hold a Master’s degree in Education from Rockhurst University. I practice under the supervision of Amanda Pikala, LMFT.
